Matt Cornett was born in Southeastern Kentucky and arrived in Colorado in 2005 courtesy of the United States Army. Matt lives in Greeley where he graduated from the University of Northern Colorado. His life is made complete by his wife Amanda, and their two boys, Ethan and Evan.
Matt is a proud Veteran of the United States Army and believes a Veteran’s duty to serve extends beyond the battlefield and into the community. Matt’s service in the Army included deployments to Iraq and Korea. Matt believes Veterans still hold a strong place in our communities and in the Democratic Party. Many Veterans still want to serve and work for the greater good of their country. Matt believes that opportunity exists in the Democratic Party.
Matt has spent many hours working with candidates and talking to voters in Northern Colorado. He serves as Commissioner at-Large on the Greeley Urban Renewal Authority and is a member of the Weld County Democratic Party Executive Committee where he has served as the Interim Chair of House District 48 and on the Resolution Committee. Matt is a past President of the Weld County Young Democrats and currently serves as Vice President. Most recently, Matt has committed to advise State Representative Dave Young as a part of his reelection committee.
Besides politics, Matt enjoys fishing with his family, playing tennis, and enjoying several microbrews.
